Boys Town:

Today’s children are tomorrow’s leaders, innovators, and hope for the future. While some children have many opportunities to shine in these areas, others don’t, because they are struggling to survive poverty, abuse, neglect, and families in crisis. Regardless of a person’s background, race, or religion, Boys Town believes that everyone deserves the chance to reach their full potential.

Unfortunately, even with the many young lives we save and change, there are still far too many boys and girls who could benefit from our help but don’t know how to find it. We hope you can help increase awareness to those youth (and their families) who need the unique assistance our Hotline services provide.

We have grown to become a national organization that reaches communities from coast to coast, and our scope has expanded to include in-home family counseling, health care and programs to rebuild at-risk schools.

One of our services, provided free of charge, is the Boys Town National Hotline®, a 24/7 crisis hotline for kids and parents. It provides a website specifically for teenagers called www.YourLifeYourVoice.org .  For 30 years, the Boys Town National Hotline® and its extended services have been answering the call when children and parents need immediate, professional, and compassionate assistance, answering 150,000 calls, emails, texts, and chats a year.

Every parent wants to help their child make good choices, develop responsibility, and build habits that lead to success. Yet many parents struggle to find discipline strategies that are both effective and easy to use in everyday life. This PSA introduces a practical, and free solution available through Parenting.org: Joy Cards and Job Cards, simple tools designed to help parents connect their child’s behavior with meaningful consequences. Drawing on proven parenting principles, the PSA highlights the importance of both positive and negative consequences in shaping behavior. Parents learn how positive consequences, such as praise, privileges, rewards, and attention, encourage children to repeat desirable behaviors, while negative consequences help reduce behaviors that can interfere with a child’s growth and success.

The PSA directs parents to Parenting.org, where they can download free Joy Cards and Job Cards to begin using these strategies at home. These easy-to-implement resources help children see the connection between their choices and what happens next, encouraging accountability, better decision-making, and greater personal responsibility.

Created by Boys Town parenting experts, Joy Cards and Job Cards offer a simple and effective way for families to reinforce positive behaviors and respond consistently to misbehavior. The PSA shows how these tools create clear expectations and help build a more consistent and positive home environment for families.

Trapped

Today’s teens often carry pressures that can feel overwhelming. Whether they believe they are letting someone down, facing challenges that seem impossible to overcome, or feeling stuck in circumstances that won’t change, many young people struggle in silence. This PSA addresses those difficult emotions and delivers an important message: no one has to face life’s challenges alone.

The PSA encourages teens to reach out and talk to someone when feelings of hopelessness, stress, or isolation begin to take hold. Sometimes a single conversation can help a young person gain perspective and begin moving forward.

The PSA connects viewers to the Boys Town National Hotline (1-800-448-3000), a free and confidential resource available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Staffed by specially trained counselors, the hotline provides immediate support for anyone facing a wide range of concerns. Teens can also access help by texting VOICE to 20121 or visiting YourLifeYourVoice.org, where they can find practical tools for managing emotions, navigating relationships, tracking moods, and building healthy coping skills.

By shining a light on the emotional struggles many teens experience, this PSA helps normalize help-seeking and encourages meaningful conversations about mental and emotional well-being. It connects young people to trusted resources that can provide guidance during difficult moments and reminds them that support is available whenever they need it, day or night.
