Catch Them and What If

Boys Town:

Today’s children are tomorrow’s leaders, innovators, and hope for the future. While some children have many opportunities to shine in these areas, others don’t, because they are struggling to survive poverty, abuse, neglect, and families in crisis. Regardless of a person’s background, race, or religion, Boys Town believes that everyone deserves the chance to reach their full potential.

Unfortunately, even with the many young lives we save and change, there are still far too many boys and girls who could benefit from our help but don’t know how to find it. We hope you can help increase awareness to those youth (and their families) who need the unique assistance our Hotline services provide.

We have grown to become a national organization that reaches communities from coast to coast, and our scope has expanded to include in-home family counseling, health care and programs to rebuild at-risk schools.

One of our services, provided free of charge, is the Boys Town National Hotline®, a 24/7 crisis hotline for kids and parents. It provides a website specifically for teenagers called www.YourLifeYourVoice.org .  For 30 years, the Boys Town National Hotline® and its extended services have been answering the call when children and parents need immediate, professional, and compassionate assistance, answering 150,000 calls, emails, texts, and chats a year.

Catch Them
This PSA campaign, “Catch Them,” models typical household situations when parents might miss a chance to praise their kids for doing something commendable. And miss that chance to encourage positive behavior.

A dad “catches” his son at the computer doing his homework and approves of his son’s good study habits. Mom “catches” her young daughter actually teaching her brother how to make a bed – a most surprising and welcome moment.

Dad looks over his son’s term paper – which received an A-minus – and expresses how impressed he is at his son’s achievement. Everyday family life is full of opportunities to recognize kids doing the right thing. This spot shows parents how, when and why they should do it.

What If
A teenage girl describes the coping difficulties facing many teens today. She shares that often, teens are confused and don’t know who they can turn to when a variety of depressing thoughts occur. We see her struggling metaphorically as she navigates a dark mental maze.

She offers a comforting possibility: “What if,” she shares, “there was a safe place troubled teens could turn to? A place with a team of experts ready to listen, understand, and share interactive advice to help teens sort things out?”. YourlifeYourVoice.org is such a place. It’s a 24/7 resource backed by a century of family counseling experience that’s there for one reason. To help teens get back on track, no strings attached. Our teen girl meets her own YourLifeYourVoice team of experts and f inds comfort in their support. She offers that if you’re feeling down, YourLifeyourVoice.org is “a powerful place to start your comeback.”
