Stand in the Gap

American College of Emergency Physicians & The Emergency Medicine Policy Institute:

The American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) was founded in 1968 by a small group of physicians who shared a commitment to improving the quality of emergency care. Through continuing education, research, public education and advocacy, ACEP advances emergency care on behalf of its nearly 40,000 emergency physician members, and the more than 150 million Americans they treat on an annual basis.

The Emergency Medicine Policy Institute (EMPI) was formed to bring together all of the voices within the house of emergency medicine and support, develop, and disseminate key findings to policymakers and the general public on the value of emergency medicine.

This PSA video spotlights how the current health care system in the U.S. isn’t working for everyone like it should. Access to health care is limited for many by economic inequities, shortage of doctors, inefficiencies and high insurance costs.

But emergency physicians and their staff are the safety net that catches those who fall through the cracks, often the most vulnerable. They stand in the gap. They do this out of deep personal conviction and care for those they serve regardless of race, sex, economic class or zip code.

This video calls out the disparities in health care and acknowledges the emergency physicians who are there for everyone, no matter what.
